OT We lost our "baby" this weekend...

Had to work Saturday for my niece who woke up with a migraine.  My dh called me mid morning and told me our Rottweiler puppy was missing.  He hunted for him all day and when I got home we combed the woods till dark looking for him.  Yesterday I was sitting at the kitchen table and we were plotting our next move on where we were going to hunt for him and I looked out the window and saw something in the goldfish pond.  The poor baby had  fallen in and could not get out.  We are all sick over it.  We cried all day.  We are going to fill it in today.  It never occurred to us something like that could happen.  He was only 10 wks old and such a smart boy.  I'm feeling so guilty for not realizing the danger to the puppy.  Our son is devastated.  It was a Christmas present to him.  He had begged for one for months and we kept saying no because we have so many pets already.  It's like losing a child.  Sorry for posting such a sad message.  I just needed to tell someone.

Thanks George.  We can use the prayers.  Val and Eddie drained the pond today.  We are going to fill it in.  I can't stand to look at it anymore.

Thanks Carla.  I don't know why it'**** us all so hard.  Even Val broke down while telling our daughter today.  I guess we all feel guilty for not thinking about the danger of the pond.

Sybul,

As many of us on here are pet lovers, many of whom have lost those familly members in the last year, me among them, I know your pain and heartache.  Wishing you all a healing of the heartache you are now experiencing.

On this board, sad, glad, WOW, sometimes the TMI or mundane, we share it all. . .

Hugs, Laureen

Oh Sybul, So sad for you .  I have a 5 year old ****apoo that is my child and I love her madly as she does me .  Probably sounds crazy, But I pray for her too as I do all my loved ones.  I actually pray that she has a healthy long life .
Losing a pet if just like losing a family member if yoru a pet lover..
Funny thing is I used to NOT be a pet lover many years ago.
I am praying for you and your family today ,,,
Blessings

Thanks Shirley.  It was a rough day for us all.  Val said he wished he wasn't off today so that he could have kept busy enough to keep his mind off of what happened.  He was such a cutie we all got really attached in a hurry.
